These are the services that may be included in Senior Wellness Care:

• A review of past medical records

• A conventional Western and a Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) exam

• Pain recognition with conventional and holistic treatment options

• Acupuncture and/or Manual Therapy including laser therapy or Piezowave therapy when appropriate for symptom management

• Herbal therapy recommendation

• Food therapy recommendations

Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medical (TCVM) practitioners are also educated in the use of Chinese herbs to augment the care of their patients. Herbal therapy has been in use for thousands of years and is very effective at treating a wide variety of acute and chronic medical conditions including:

Food is essential for survival, something to enjoy, and something that can both enhance and deteriorate a body. Hippocrates, the Greek founder of western medicine stated, “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”

Food has been used as a medicine in China for thousands of years, and it is part of the four branches of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM); acupuncture, herbal therapy, food therapy and Tui-na massage. TCVM practitioners are educated in the art and science of food therapy to augment the care that they provide.

For interested clients, recommendations regarding food therapy for the patient will be made based on the pet’s examination and condition.

As an animal ages their body changes. These changes may include cognitive dysfunction as well as increased difficulty moving around. A fresh look at your home environment can be invaluable in maintaining the health and safety of an older pet. An in-home environmental assessment is like a hazards risk assessment for your home as it relates to your pet and their health needs. For pets that are having difficulty getting around, the assessment will also help give enrichment ideas. This is especially important for animals that are very social.
